Rahawa Haile

Rahawa Haile is an Eritrean American writer in Oakland, California.

Her work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Outside, Rolling Stone, Audubon, Pitchfork, Pacific Standard, and AFAR. She is the recipient of a Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism award and a former associate editor of Anxy Magazine. In Open Country, a blended memoir about her thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail and the politics of free movement in the US, is forthcoming from Little, Brown.
